Toons for Toddlers is a ground breaking concept in family entertainment. It enables families with toddlers and young children (ages 2-5) the opportunity to enjoy great entertainment in a toddler-friendly environment.

What does toddler-friendly mean?
TFT has created a program that brings some of the best children’s entertainment on to the big screen for your toddlers’ delight.
- The entire screening length is just under 60 minutes.
- The theatre sound is reduced significantly so that it’s loud enough to enjoy but not too loud to be scary.
- Most importantly, theatre lights are left on dim so parents and little ones to find their way out of their seats for washroom breaks if necessary.

About 'Toons For Toddlers

'Toons For Toddlers was created by two moms with toddlers themselves. Robyn Green-Ruskin is the owner and creator of the successful Movies For Mommies (MFM) - Canada’s Original Parent & Baby Film Event. MFM was launched 8 years ago and thousands of moms and babies have enjoyed matinees at its host theatres. In the last few years, many requests have come from moms asking for toddler programming. With second or third or fourth kids and a baby, they wanted a venue where they could bring all their kids to enjoy a theatre experience. The complaint they consistently had was that full length feature films were still too long for their kids to sit through and the movies were so loud it scared their kids.

Enter Nancy Fowler, co-founder of The Licensing Shop Inc., and her experience with a multitude of the world’s top entertainment producers for young children. She put together a plan and works closely with various companies to secure the most popular, quality and entertaining programming appropriate for the young audience. Together, we are striving to build a fun and consistent cinema experience to you and your toddlers. We appreciate that this is most likely a “first” cinema experience for your toddler and we want it to become a cherished memory for you both.

TFT events run at all theatres in Canada where Movies For Mommies is hosted. The program has trained staff to help with any concerns or accommodations that may be required by families.

Are these actual movies that you’re screening?
We are securing great quality family entertainment from blue-chip entertainment producers but our rule is that the length of play will not be longer than 60 minutes. Most big box-office animated feature films go longer at 75-90 minutes. We will have some “movies” at 45 minutes in length while other entertainment will be composed of two half-hour episodes. Whenever possible we are striving for entertainment that has yet to be seen on television or home entertainment in Canada.

How often does TFT run at my local theatre?
Toons For Toddlers runs quarterly either on a Saturday or Sunday morning (10:30 AM) at selected theatres. We’ve made it early enough in the day that you can get to the theatre, see the show, and be home in time for lunch and naptime; and, late enough in the morning that you can enjoy your cup of coffee without a panic to get out the door. Please check our locations page for exact screenings dates frequently as we will be updating often.



I have a toddler and a baby – can I take the baby with us?
That’s the beauty of Toons for Toddlers, we’re baby friendly too! The reduced sound levels and low lighting makes it a comfortable environment for babies as well. Each of our theatres also have Bottle Warmers at the concession counters.
